Pielinen ─ is the 4th largest lake in Finland. It is located in the north of the city of Joensuu and spreads its waters between Juuka, Lieksa and Nurmes. Lake Pielinen has the area of 90,000 hectares - perfectly pure, unspoilt, preserved wild nature, surrounded by picturesque hills and pine trees. On the western shore of the lake in the central part of the area there are located famouse Koli hills, which together with the National Koli Park are considered as a most famous and beautiful natural sites in Finland.
